Bonaire, St Eustatius and Saba Amends 2025 Public Holidays Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland (Oranjestad) The Rijksdienst Caribisch Nederland has released an amended version of its previously-released list of official non-working public holidays in Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba, for the calendar year 2025. The new listing has a day in lieu public holiday for the April 27 King's Day public holiday which falls on a Sunday in 2025. Note that the initial list of public holidays in Bonaire, St. Eustatius and Saba, for the calendar year 2025, as announced last January, still contains an error in the date listed for the 2025 Carnaval Monday of Saba. The listed date of July 29, 2025, which is a Tuesday and the same date as last year, is probably a typo. The Public Entity Saba website, for its part lists the 2025 Saba Carnaval Monday as TBD.

Singapore Government Rejects Thaipusam Public Holiday Singapore Ministry of Manpower (MOM) Singapore's Minister of State for Manpower, Gan Siow Huang, has rejected recent calls from MPs to restore Thaipusam as an annual public holiday in Singapore. As per one of the proposal, the number of public holidays would increase from 11 to 14, with one additional public holiday for each of the three major racial groups in Singapore, thus keeping with the spirit of the 1968 parliamentary debate on the Holidays Amendment Bill. At that time, only 3 years after Singapore's independence, the then Minister for Law and Economic Development, E.W. Barker, had suggested that if Singapore prospered, the government might consider increasing the number of public holidays ("If our island prospers, I am sure the government will ask me to come back here, and on that day, it will be my pleasure to make amendments to increase the number of holidays. But let us first show that we can work hard and that we deserve more holidays"). Proponents of an increase in the number of public holidays have pointed out that "Between 1968 and today, our GDP per capita has grown from a little more than S$2,100 to more than S$127,000, close to a 60-fold increase.", concluding that "It is impossible to claim that we have not prospered. It is time to call in that promise made close to six decades ago and reinstate Thaipusam as a national holiday".
