Oman Extends Eid al-Fitr Public Holidays Oman News Agency (Muscat) Oman's Ministry of Labour has announced that the previously-announced dates for the upcoming Eidiul Fitr (End of Ramadan) non-working public holidays, for both the public sector and the private sector of Oman, would be extended until Thursday, April 3, 2025, with official working hours to resume on Sunday, April 6, 2025. The aforementioned decision stems from the fact that the Moon's crescent was not sighted in Oman on Saturday night, and therefore that Monday, March 31, 2025, would be the date of the Eidiul Fitr in Oman. Recall that, a week ago, Oman's Ministry of Labour had announced that the 2025 End of Ramadan public holidays, for both the public sector and the private sector of Oman, would start on Saturday, March 29, 2025, and that as for the last date of these holidays, there were 2 options; "If the first day of Eid falls on Sunday, March 30, the holiday will end on Tuesday, 3rd Shawwal 1446 AH, corresponding to April 1. Official working hours would resume on Wednesday, April 2, 2025" on the other hand, "If the first day of Eid falls on Monday, March 31, 2025, the holiday will end on Thursday, 4th Shawwal 1446 AH, corresponding to April 3. Official working hours would resume on Sunday, April 6, 2025". For more than a decade, and contrary to most other Gulf States, Oman has been observing the same Eid public holidays for both the private and public sectors. However, contrary to the other GCC countries who follow the Saudi Umm al-Qura calculated calendar, Oman still relies on the actual sighting of the Moon's first crescent to determine the start of Islamic months.
