Background Information

Governing Law: Official public holidays in the Czech Republic are regulated by the 1975 Act to amend the Act of 2 Nov. 1951 respecting the national festival, public holidays, days of remembrance and days of national significance.  Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a weekend remain on that date (ie. they are not moved to another date, such as the following Monday, for example).  New Year's Day (January 1st) is also sometimes referrd to as Czech State Recovery Day, Reconstruction Day, State Restoration Day, and Establishment Day.  Statehood Day (September 28th) is also Saint Wenceslaus Day..  Czech Republic International Codes CZ and CZE (2 and 3-letter ISO3166 codes) and .cz (ICANN national top-level internet domain).
