Background Information

Governing Law: Official public holidays in Serbia are regulated by the 2001 Labour Code (Official Gazette of RS, No. 43/2001 and 101/2007).  Weekend Public Holidays: Public holidays that occur on a Sunday are moved to the following Monday.  Other days of note but which are not public holidays are: Saint Sava (Spirituality Day): January 27th, Victory Day (May 9) which, despite being an official public holiday, is nonetheless a working day in Serbia and in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. Saint Vitus' Day: June 28th.  Employee-Related Holidays: based on their religious affiliations, employees are entitled to take the following days off (which are not public holidays): Orthodox Christians: the 1st day of the family saint holiday. Catholic Christians: from Catholic Good Friday until the second day of Catholic Easter. Members of Islamic community: the 1st day of Ramadan Bayram and the 1st day of Kurban Bayram.
