The Hindu Calendar holiday recurrence rule type is for holidays based on either the Hindu lunar calendar or the Hindu solar calendar.
Hindu lunar calendar holidays |
The structure of Hindu lunar calendar holidays is a month-day-time triplet with the option of observing the holiday on the leap month and/or leap day.

Hindu solar calendar holidays |
The structure of Hindu solar calendar holidays is based on a simple month-day pair of the Hindu solar calendar, with the option of taking the nakshatra into account.

Most Hindu holidays are based on the lunar calendar. In addition, even holidays which are supposed to be based on the Hindu solar calendar are, in practice, better matched by the use of a lunisolar recurrence rule, than by the use of a rule based on the Hindu solar calendar.
