To move a functioning XE3 server setup from one physical PC to another:
1)Make sure that the computer on which you install the XE3 Server meets all the configuration requirements.
2)Make sure Q++Studio is closed on all workstations.
3)On the old server, stop the application server.
4)On the old server, stop the database server.
5)Copy the entire folder \Q++ServerXE3\ from the old server to the new server's D:\ drive.
6)Add the program D:\Q++ServerXE3\Q++Server32.exe to the list of applications which automatically start with Windows.
7)On the new server, start the application server (this will automatically start the database server).
8)Load the database settings file nxServer3x32.nxdbworksettings.init_D which is located in the folder D:\Q++ServerXE3\DbEngine\.
9)Change the database alias DATA to the folder D:\Q++ServerXE3\Database\.
10)Before closing-down the database server's UI window, note the IP address of the database server.
11)On each of the workstations, open the file C:\Qpp\Qpp.ini, locate the line beginning with ServerName_XE3= and change it to ServerName_XE3=ALTEREGO_XE3@X.X.X.X, where X.X.X.X corresponds to the IP address you noted in the previous step (if no such line exists, add it just below the line [Q++]).
You should now be able to launch Q++Studio from any of the workstations.
If, at any stage, you encounter any difficulties, contact technical support.
