A fixed unit is the smallest unit of size used internally by both QuarkXPress and InDesign, and is defined as 1/65536 of a point.

 

➢Fixed units are also used in Q++Studio as parameters of the box positioning and resizing macro functions.

 

In terms of everyday units, this means that:

 

•A point is 65536 fixed units.

•An inch is 4718592 fixed units.

•A millimeter is approximately 185771 fixed units.

 

Use the helper functions SizeMm, SizePt, and SizeIn, to convert the units of your choice into fixed units.
