Pre-shrinking textbox did not cause text overflow

Scroll Prev Up Next More
This InDesign processing messages occurs at the end of the pre-shrinking stage of the processing of a BOXFIT token.

Pre-shrinking occurs for any box containing a BOXFIT token, with a step size of 2 points or less, and which does not have text overflow initially. In such cases, prior to processing the BOXFIT instructions, the textbox will be automatically be reduced in size to 3 points, to ensure that there is text overflow, and thus avoiding the message 179375.

But, in some cases, the columns of the shrunk textbox do not follow the re-sizing, causing the text area of the textbox to be dissociated from the textbox's size, as can be seen in the example on the right.

Solution

In your InDesign template, re-size the textbox containing the BOXFIT token, so that the textbox already has text overflow before it is processed.
