p-Code Formatting Error

Scroll Prev Up Next More

This DTP processing message and the related family of internal error messages is generated if the format of the p-code sent to QuarkXPress or InDesign is not of the expected format.

Possible Reason 1

These messages are usually caused by the use of one of the 3 reserved characters {}| inside a holiday name, one-time-date-name, saint name, slogan, as one of the 4 Moon phases symbols, or in MonthHeaders.

The usual solution is to replace the direct use of any of these reserved characters {}| by its equivalent ASCII code.

For example you could change any occurrence of the pipe sign | in a holiday name by the code &#124.

Possible Reason 2

Another possible cause for this family of messages, is having the text that replaces a token being longer than 64K (QuarkXPress 8-2015) or 128K (QuarkXPress 2016-2025) or 256K (InDesign).

If all else fails

If you cannot find the source of this problem, or solve it using the above suggestion, then please send the script to technical support.
