XML identifier: TSL_PDFPages
Requires QuarkXPress 2016-2025 or InDesign
PDF Pages script lines are used to insert PDF pages into a Script.
The PDF Pages script line is similar in usage to the Quark Pages and InDesign Pages script line, except that, here, it is pages from a PDF file, not a QuarkXPress or InDesign file, that are inserted.
➢These PDF pages usually correspond to information or notes pages.
The principal property of PDF Pages is the PDF File which tells Q++Studio which PDF file to use.
The position of the box containing the PDF, on the page, is determined by the PDF Pages Options and the position of the PDF image within that picturebox, is determined by the Picturebox Options. These 2 options correspond, respectively, to the 2 user interface areas of QuarkXPress and InDesign, as shown below.
The selected pages property allows you to select only some of the pages contained in this file. The values of the properties PDF page count, times repeated and total page count are displayed in the corresponding script line of the scripts editor.
You also can choose to have the text of the label property appear in the scripts editor, or the PDF File file name chosen. This behavior is set, for each individual user, through the miscellaneous preferences.
Menus and Toolbar Options
All the standard script line manipulations can be used on PDF Pages script lines.
Additionally, when a PDF Pages scriptline is selected, additional functions become available, some directly from the script line Toolbar, as shown below.
These additional functions are also available via the pop-up menu, that appears, when right-clicking on a PDF Pages scriptline.
•Preview: Use this button or menu item to display a small image preview of the PDF file underlying the selected script line. Note how pages that are not part of the selected pages are clearly identified as such (above right). This feature is also available for DiaryGridLines, InDesign Pages and Quark Pages script lines.
•Open File: Opens the file underlying the selected script line in your default PDF reader.
•Re-inspect: Re-inspects the PDF file underlying the selected script line.
•Clear File Link: Tells Q++Studio that the selected PDF Pages script line does not refer to any PDF file (this is the state when you create a new script or add a new PDF Pages scriptline).
The PDF pages are placed in a picture box located on the PDF_PAGES layer (this is created automatically during diary generation.
