Property of the script line: DiaryGridLines.
The Slogan Rules property editor is used to specify which slogan sets to use, and how, to convert slogan tokens contained in the GridTemplate of the current DiaryGridLine.
Slogan Tokens
•The list of slogan tokens contained in the gridtemplate is automatically filled. these slogan tokens are of the form [:slog1] to [:slog15].
•To modify the rule for one of the slogan tokens, select it, modify the options at the top left and/or the associated slogans set, and then click on the Apply button (or click on the Undo button to undo the changes you just made).
•To remove the link between the current slogans token and any slogans set, select the Q++ root node. This will keep the other options, such as Start Cycle and Skip Slogan on Holidays Lists (see below).
•To clear all settings related to the selected slogan token index, use the Clear button.
Use the magnifying glass icon, on the right, to open the currently selected slogans set in the slogans manager.
Selected Slogan Set and Options
On the right of the slogan rules property editor is the list of all the available slogan sets.
When you change the selection in the list of slogan tokens, the corresponding slogans set will be selected. if no slogans set is associated with the current slogan token, the Q++Studio root node will be selected.
Above the list of slogan sets are various options relating to the current slogan token.
In the slogans manager, the bold and italics formatting is generic, which corresponds to electronic bold and electronic italics (as opposed to the use of a specific font for bold and a specific font for italics).
But, the use of electronic bold and electronic italics is either discouraged (QuarkXPress 2018-2025) or simply not available (InDesign).
The Bold font and Italics font options allow you to specify that the generic bold and italics formatting of each slogan should be replaced by the fonts specified here.
To use electronic bold and electronic italics, leave these 2 fields empty.
Use these settings to override the graphics settings of the slogans, used for the current slogan token of the current scriptline.
Skip Slogan on Holidays list
This option is used to skip (ie. not insert) a slogan on dates when there is a holiday for any of the selected holidays lists.
The skipping of a slogan is triggered only by the date, and this feature will work even if the slogan token and holidays token are in different textboxes, or even if there are no holidays tokens anywhere in the GridTemplate.
The manner in which this "skipping" is done depends on the type of slogan set.
•In the case of "Run Once Only" or "Cyclical", no slogan appears and the next slogan in the list is used the next time (ie. none of the slogans is skipped, they just do not appear on that date).
•In the case of "Month and Day" or "Specific Dates" the Slogan that was to appear on that date, if any, does not appear at all (not even later).
This option is used to control the starting point of the replacement of the slogan tokens. The implementation of this option also depends on the type of slogan set.
If the associated Slogans Set is "Run Once Only" or "Cyclical", and an index is chosen then will start from that index, the very first time the corresponding token is encountered.
•If you are not sure at which index you wish to start, you can press the ellipsis button and simply select the slogan at which you want your slogan token's conversion to begin.
•This starting index is a property of the current script's slogans rules, not of the slogans set. this means that the same slogan set used in another script can have a different starting index.
If a date is chosen for the Start Cycle at Date or Index setting:
•If the associated slogans set is "Run Once Only" or "Cyclical", then the corresponding token will be ignored until its date is the selected date, and will then start with the Slogan of the smallest index.
•If the associated Slogans Set is "Month and Day" or "Specific Dates", then the corresponding slogan token will only be replaced when it has reached, or exceeded, that date.
Finally, some things are not possible:
•It is not possible to have Q++Studio start at an arbitrary index and at an arbitrary date. Only one of the 2 options can be selected.
•If you opt to have a "Run Only Once" slogans set start at a given index, it will run until the end of the list, and the slogans previous to the starting index will never be used. Q++Studio will not go back to use just the ones before the starting index.
•If the associated slogans set is "Month and Day" or "Specific Dates" , then you cannot use an index for this option (it makes no sense, as indices are not defined for these types of slogans sets).
